Explanation of the Verse:
On that Day, the disbelievers will rise from their graves with their eyes lowered in utter humility and submission, overwhelmed by the terror of what lies ahead. They will emerge from the earth hastily, rushing toward the appointed gathering for judgment, and in their sheer number, confusion, and frantic movement, they will resemble a swarm of locusts scattered across the land—each one moving without direction, driven by fear and helplessness. Their humility will be most visible in their eyes, for the gaze betrays the state of the heart more than any other limb. This is a scene of complete disgrace and loss of all pride, as those who once walked arrogantly upon the earth are now brought low, stripped of every trace of vanity.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Imagine, dear reader, the stark contrast between this life and the next. Today, many walk with heads held high, consumed by pride in wealth, status, or power. But on that Day, every arrogant eye will be cast down, and every haughty soul will be humbled before its Creator. This vivid image is not meant to frighten you away from hope—rather, it is a loving reminder from Allah, Who has given you the gift of time *now* to turn back to Him. The graves are not the end; they are a passage to a meeting with your Lord. But the Quran also brings glad tidings: those who believe, do good deeds, and seek Allah’s mercy will not face this terror with despair, but with the light of faith guiding them. So let this scene awaken your heart today—humble yourself before Allah voluntarily, so that you are not humbled against your will on that Day. Turn to Him in prayer, charity, and repentance, and you will find that His mercy embraces all who call upon Him. The scattered locusts are a warning, but the open door of repentance is a mercy—so hasten to it before the Day arrives when no return is possible.
