Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Naddākhatān (نَضَّاخَتَانِ): Two springs that gush forth abundantly and continuously, overflowing with water that never ceases or diminishes.

Explanation of the Verse:

In these two magnificent gardens — the ones prepared for the righteous — there are two springs that gush forth with copious, ever-flowing water. Their water bursts out powerfully and endlessly, never running dry, never weakening in its flow. This imagery of perpetual, vigorous springs reflects the boundless generosity and perfection of what Allah has prepared for His believing servants. The water is not merely present; it is alive, dynamic, and abundant, symbolizing the eternal vitality and joy that will fill the lives of the dwellers of Paradise.

After describing these blessings, the verse is followed by the recurring rhetorical question: "So which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?" This question is addressed to both humans and jinn, reminding them that every single blessing — from the smallest to the greatest — is a gift from Allah alone. It calls upon the heart to pause, reflect, and respond with gratitude and submission, rather than denial or ingratitude.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Imagine a spring that never stops flowing — cool, pure, and refreshing — in a garden of ultimate beauty. This is but one glimpse of what awaits those who strive in the path of Allah with sincerity and patience. The Qur'an paints these vivid pictures not merely to inform, but to inspire: to awaken in the believer a longing for the Hereafter, and to motivate a life of obedience, charity, and love for Allah. Every time you read such verses, let your heart yearn for that eternal bliss, and let that yearning translate into action — prayer, kindness, honesty, and seeking knowledge. Paradise is real, its springs are flowing, and its doors are open for those who turn to their Lord with a pure heart. So, which of your Lord's favors will you ever deny? None — so praise Him, thank Him, and strive to meet Him with a heart full of faith.
