Surah Ar-Rahman — Verse 70

Tafsir (Explanation):

In these four magnificent gardens that Allah has prepared for His righteous servants, there are spouses of unparalleled excellence. They are described with two complementary qualities that together form perfect harmony: *khayrāt* — women of supreme moral virtue, whose character is pure, whose hearts are kind, whose words are gentle, and whose conduct is flawless; and *ḥisān* — women of striking beauty, whose faces shine with radiance and whose appearance delights every eye that beholds them.

These are not merely physical beauties, for true perfection lies in the union of inner goodness and outer loveliness. Their beauty is not skin-deep — it springs from purified souls that have been cleansed of envy, malice, and deceit. Their goodness is not superficial — it radiates from hearts filled with love, faithfulness, and devotion. They are described as "khayrāt" — the very best of women — because they combine excellence in both creation (their form) and character (their conduct), as the scholars have noted.

Imagine, dear reader: a beauty that never fades, a character that never disappoints, a companionship that never tires. This is the reward Allah has promised — not as a debt He owes, but as a pure favor and mercy from His boundless generosity. The word "khayrāt" itself suggests that these women are chosen from the best of the best, perfected in every attribute that brings joy and tranquility to the heart.

How great is the reward of those who strive in this world! Allah does not ask us to be perfect — He asks us to be sincere. Every prayer you offer, every fast you observe, every kindness you extend to others, every struggle you endure against your own desires — all of it is being recorded, and all of it leads to gardens where such delights await. The Prophet ﷺ taught us that the pleasures of this world are temporary and fleeting, but the rewards of the Hereafter are eternal and ever-fresh.

No matter how difficult your circumstances may be, no matter how many trials you face, remember that Allah has prepared for His believing servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart can conceive. These gardens are not distant dreams — they are certain realities for those who place their trust in Allah and strive in His path. Let your longing for these gardens transform your daily life — turning your prayers into moments of intimacy with your Lord, your charity into seeds of eternal reward, and your patience into keys that unlock the gates of Paradise.
