Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- أُولَٰئِكَ (Ula'ika): "Those" — referring to the foremost ones (As-Sabiqun) mentioned in the preceding verse.
- الْمُقَرَّبُونَ (Al-Muqarrabun): "The ones brought near" — those granted intimate proximity and high rank in the presence of Allah.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse identifies the "foremost" (As-Sabiqun) — those who raced toward goodness, faith, and righteous deeds in this worldly life — as the ones who will be brought near to Allah in the Hereafter. Their reward is not merely entry into Paradise, but a station of honor and closeness to their Lord that surpasses that of other believers. They are the elite among the righteous, distinguished by their unwavering commitment, sincerity, and devotion. Allah, in His infinite mercy and justice, elevates them to a rank of nearness that reflects their exceptional striving in the life of this world. This nearness is not physical in the human sense, but rather a spiritual honor, a special favor, and a degree of divine acceptance and intimacy that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart can fully comprehend.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear believer, this verse is a radiant beacon of hope and a powerful motivator. It teaches us that the path to Allah's closeness is open to all who strive — not through wealth or lineage, but through sincere faith and righteous action. The "foremost" were not angels; they were human beings like us, who chose to prioritize their Creator over fleeting desires. Their reward is a promise from Allah — the Most Generous — that He does not let any good deed go to waste. So ask yourself: what is holding you back from racing toward goodness? Every prayer offered on time, every act of kindness, every moment of patience, every step taken in obedience — these are your tickets to being among the Muqarrabun. Let this verse ignite in your heart a beautiful ambition: to be among those who are brought near to Allah, not only in the Hereafter, but also in this life through the sweetness of faith and the tranquility of a heart connected to its Lord. The door of nearness is wide open — will you not enter it?
