Explanation of the Verse:
This noble verse opens Surah Al-Hadid with a universal declaration of praise and glorification directed to Allah alone. Every single creature in the heavens and the earth — from the mighty angels and celestial bodies to the smallest particles on earth, from the conscious to the unconscious, from the living to the non-living — glorifies Allah and declares His perfection. This is not limited to a specific time or moment; rather, all of creation has been glorifying Him eternally in the past and will continue to do so forever in the future. Their glorification is a natural, inherent act that reflects the absolute submission of all existence to its Creator.
The verse then introduces two of Allah's most beautiful attributes: Al-ʿAziz (The Almighty) and Al-Hakim (The All-Wise). His might is absolute and unchallenged — no power in the universe can resist His will or escape His authority. Yet His might is never arbitrary or unjust; it is always accompanied by His perfect wisdom. He does not act without purpose, and His decree over all affairs is precisely measured and profoundly wise. This combination of absolute power and perfect wisdom assures the believer that everything that happens in this universe — whether seemingly good or difficult — flows from a source of infinite strength and flawless judgment.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, when you contemplate this verse, let it awaken your heart to the reality that surrounds you. The very universe you live in — the sky above you, the earth beneath your feet, the air you breathe — is in a constant state of glorifying its Creator. If all of creation, without exception, submits to Allah and praises Him, how can a human being — who has been given intellect, consciousness, and free will — remain heedless or turn away?
This verse invites you to join this universal chorus of praise. When you wake in the morning and see the sun rising, know that it is glorifying Allah. When you walk on the earth and see the trees swaying, know that they are glorifying Allah. And when you raise your hands in supplication and say "SubhanAllah" (Glory be to Allah), you are aligning yourself with the very fabric of existence.
Remember that your Lord is Al-ʿAziz — He has the power to protect you, provide for you, and grant you victory over all difficulties. And He is Al-Hakim — everything He decrees for you, even what you may not understand, is filled with wisdom and goodness. So place your trust in Him, glorify Him with your tongue, and let your entire life be a testament to His perfection. This is the path of peace, purpose, and eternal success.
