Word Meanings:
- Nufassil (نُفَصِّلُ): We make clear, explain in detail, and set forth distinctly.
- Al-Ayaat (الْآيَاتِ): The signs, proofs, and evidences (here referring to the verses of the Qur'an).
- Tastabina (تَسْتَبِينَ): To become evident, manifest, and clearly visible.
- Sabeel (سَبِيلُ): The path, way, or course.
- Al-Mujrimeen (الْمُجْرِمِينَ): The criminals, the sinners, those who persist in wrongdoing and transgression.
Explanation of the Verse:
Just as Allah has made clear to you, O Messenger, the detailed accounts of the previous nations, the stories of the prophets, and the rulings of His religion, He likewise explains His signs and proofs in the Qur'an with perfect clarity. He distinguishes truth from falsehood, guidance from misguidance, and obedience from disobedience. This detailed exposition serves a dual purpose: first, to establish the truth firmly in the hearts of the believers so that they may follow it with certainty; and second, to expose the path of the criminals—those who reject the messengers, oppose the truth, and persist in sin—so that their way becomes manifest and recognizable. When the truth is made crystal clear, the deviation of the wrongdoers becomes equally evident, and no one is left with an excuse. The believer, seeing this clarity, is empowered to avoid the path of the criminals and to warn others against it.
This verse carries a profound lesson: Allah does not leave His creation in confusion. He sends down His signs, explains them in detail, and illuminates the two paths—the path of righteousness and the path of transgression—so that every soul may choose consciously and be held accountable with full knowledge. The clarity of the Qur'an is a mercy from Allah, and the exposure of the criminals' way is a protection for the believers.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, reflect on the beauty of this verse: Allah, in His infinite mercy, does not merely tell you what to do—He shows you the evidence, explains the reasoning, and lays out both paths before you. He exposes the way of the criminals not to confuse you, but to protect you. When you read the Qur'an with an open heart, you will see the truth as clearly as the sun at midday, and you will recognize the path of error from afar, steering clear of it. This is the ultimate guidance—a light that never dims and a criterion that never fails. Embrace this divine clarity, and let it lead you to the straight path that pleases your Lord, for He has left no excuse and opened every door of guidance for those who seek it sincerely.
