Explanation of the Verse:

When Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) called his people to the worship of Allah alone, they did not merely reject his call—they argued with him and tried to intimidate him with threats of their idols' power. They said: "If you reject our gods, they will harm you!"

Ibrahim's response was one of profound faith, courage, and wisdom. He said: "Do you argue with me about Allah, when He has already guided me to the truth?" In other words: How can you dispute with me about the Oneness of Allah when my heart is filled with certainty and my Lord has opened my eyes to the truth? Your arguments are baseless, for you have no proof, while I stand upon clear guidance from my Creator.

Then he addressed their threats: "I do not fear what you associate with Him." He declared that he had no fear whatsoever of their idols—those lifeless stones and statues that could neither benefit nor harm anyone. He was not afraid of them because they possessed no power whatsoever. The only thing he acknowledged was the will of Allah: "Unless my Lord wills something"—meaning, if Allah wills any harm or good to befall him, then it happens, and no idol can prevent it or cause it. All power belongs to Allah alone.

He then reminded them of Allah's infinite knowledge: "My Lord encompasses all things in knowledge." Nothing is hidden from Him—not in the heavens nor on the earth. He knows every secret, every intention, and every deed. This statement was a powerful reminder that Allah is fully aware of their disbelief, their arguments, and their threats, and He will deal with them justly.

Finally, Ibrahim concluded with a gentle yet firm call to reason: "Will you not then remember?" He invited them to use their intellects, to reflect on the clear signs of Allah's power and oneness, and to realize that He alone deserves worship. He was not merely defending himself—he was calling them to salvation, urging them to wake up from their heedlessness and embrace the truth.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

This verse carries timeless lessons for every believer. First, it teaches us the courage of conviction: when you know the truth, do not let anyone intimidate you or shake your faith. Second, it reminds us that true fear belongs only to Allah—we should not fear any created thing, no matter how powerful it may seem, for all creation is subject to Allah's will. Third, it invites us to use our intellect: Allah has given us reason so that we may reflect upon His signs and recognize His oneness.

Dear reader, just as Ibrahim stood firm against his people's arguments, you too can stand firm in your faith. When people mock you or try to frighten you away from Islam, remember Ibrahim's words: "I do not fear what you associate with Him." Place your trust in Allah, for He is the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful, and He will never abandon those who sincerely believe in Him. Let this verse inspire you to deepen your certainty, to strengthen your reliance on Allah, and to call others to the truth with wisdom and patience—just as the father of the prophets did. Will you not then remember?

📜 Verse 78-82 — Al-An'am

And when he saw the sun rising, he said, "This is my lord; this is greater." But when it set, he said, "O my people, indeed I am free from what you associate with Allah.
Indeed, I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah."
And his people argued with him. He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me? And I fear not what you associate with Him [and will not be harmed] unless my Lord should will something. My Lord encompasses all things in knowledge; then will you not remember?
And how should I fear what you associate while you do not fear that you have associated with Allah that for which He has not sent down to you any authority? So which of the two parties has more right to security, if you should know?
They who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice - those will have security, and they are [rightly] guided.
