Meanings of Key Words:

  • Al-Samaa Al-Dunya: The nearest heaven to the earth, the lowest celestial sphere visible to human eyes.
  • Bimasabeeh: Lamps — referring to the stars that shine with brilliant light.
  • Rujooman: Projectiles or missiles — things thrown to repel or strike.
  • Al-Shayateen: The devils among the jinn who attempt to eavesdrop on heavenly matters.
  • A'tadna: We have prepared or made ready.
  • Al-Sa'eer: The blazing, fiercely burning Fire.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this profound verse, Allah the Exalted declares that He has adorned the lowest heaven — the one nearest to the earth that we gaze upon every night — with brilliant, shining stars that serve as magnificent lamps, illuminating the darkness and filling the sky with beauty and wonder. These stars are not merely decorative; they are also a protective barrier, for Allah has made them fiery projectiles to repel and strike the devils who dare to ascend toward the heavens in an attempt to steal a whisper of the unseen knowledge that Allah has kept guarded. When these devils approach, they are met with blazing meteors that burn and destroy them, preventing them from corrupting divine revelation or deceiving humanity with fragments of hidden knowledge.

Yet, despite this worldly punishment of being pelted with celestial flames, Allah has also prepared for these devils an even greater torment in the Hereafter: the blazing Fire of Hell (Al-Sa'eer), where they will burn eternally as a just recompense for their arrogance, disobedience, and relentless efforts to mislead the children of Adam.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

O beloved reader, pause and ponder this magnificent scene! The very sky above you — with its countless stars twinkling in the darkness — is not a random accident of nature. It is a deliberate, purposeful creation by the Most Wise, the All-Knowing. Every star that decorates your night sky is a sign of Allah's power, a guardian of divine revelation, and a testament to His absolute control over all realms — seen and unseen.

When you look up at the heavens, let your heart fill with awe and gratitude. The same Allah who hung those lamps in the sky and made them missiles against the devils is the One who watches over you, protects you, and has prepared for His believing servants gardens of eternal bliss. If He can guard the heavens with such precision and power, how much more capable is He of guarding your heart, your faith, and your journey toward Him?

And if the devils — those relentless enemies of humanity — face such humiliation and punishment both in this world and the next, then know that your Lord is fully capable of defending you against their whispers and schemes. So turn to Him, seek His protection, and let the beauty of the heavens remind you of the beauty of His mercy and the certainty of His justice. Indeed, in every star that shines, there is a lesson for those who reflect — and a promise of protection for those who believe.

📜 Verse 3-7 — Al-Mulk

[And] who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return [your] vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks?
Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your] vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued.
And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with stars and have made [from] them what is thrown at the devils and have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.
And for those who disbelieved in their Lord is the punishment of Hell, and wretched is the destination.
When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up.
