Explanation of the Verse:
In this noble verse, Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) tells us that when the waters of the great flood rose beyond all limits, covering the earth entirely, He carried the ancestors of humanity—the offspring of Adam—along with Prophet Nuh (Noah, peace be upon him) in the ark that sailed through the raging waves. This was not merely an event of survival; rather, it was a profound sign and a decisive moment in history. Allah made this entire incident—the deliverance of the believers and the drowning of the disbelievers—a lasting lesson and a vivid reminder for all of humanity. The purpose was that every generation would reflect upon it, understand the consequences of rejecting the truth, and recognize the mercy of Allah in saving the faithful. Furthermore, Allah ensured that this story would be preserved and safeguarded by ears that are truly attentive—ears that not only hear but comprehend, retain, and act upon the divine message. Such ears belong to those who are sincere seekers of truth, who take heed of Allah’s signs, and who allow the revelation to transform their hearts and lives.
A Da’wah Reflection:
Dear reader, ponder deeply upon this verse! The story of Nuh (peace be upon him) is not just a tale of the past; it is a living reminder for you and me today. Allah saved the believers through the ark, and He preserved this account so that every soul with a conscious heart and an attentive ear may draw lessons from it. The "attentive ear" mentioned here is an invitation to you: open your heart to the Qur’an, listen to its verses with humility, and let its wisdom penetrate your soul. When you truly listen—not just with your ears, but with your mind and spirit—you will find guidance, peace, and success in this life and the Hereafter. The Qur’an is the ship of salvation for our times; whoever boards it with faith and sincerity will be saved from the storms of misguidance and sin. Do not let this moment pass without reflecting: Are you among those whose ears are attentive to Allah’s call? If so, rejoice, for Allah has prepared for you a path of light and a reward beyond measure. Embrace this reminder, act upon it, and share it with others, for the best of people are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.
