Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Ghill (غِلّ): Hidden rancor, deep-seated malice, envy, or ill-feeling that resides in the heart.
- Naza'na (نَزَعْنَا): We removed, extracted, and completely took away.
- Aurithtumooha (أُورِثْتُمُوهَا): You have been made heirs to it — meaning it has been granted to you as an inheritance, given as a lasting possession.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Imagine the ultimate moment of arrival — the gates of Paradise opening wide for the believers. Yet before they even taste its delights, Allah, in His infinite mercy and generosity, performs a profound act of purification: He removes from their hearts every trace of rancor, envy, and ill-feeling that may have lingered between them in the worldly life. This is not merely forgiveness; it is a complete cleansing of the soul, so that the people of Paradise enter with hearts as pure as crystal, filled only with love, peace, and brotherhood. There is no grudge, no jealousy, no bitterness — only harmony and joy. And as a further sign of their complete bliss, rivers flow gently beneath their dwellings, adding to the serenity and beauty of their eternal home.
Upon witnessing this magnificent reward, the people of Paradise spontaneously break into praise: "All praise is due to Allah, who has guided us to this!" They recognize, with full clarity and humility, that none of this was achieved by their own merit alone. They confess: "We would never have been guided had Allah not guided us." This is the ultimate acknowledgment of Allah's grace — that every step of their righteous journey, every act of worship, every moment of patience and perseverance, was made possible only through His divine guidance and support. They then affirm the truthfulness of the messengers: "Indeed, the messengers of our Lord came with the truth." At that moment, all doubts vanish, and they see with their own eyes the fulfillment of every promise made to them in the worldly life.
Then, as an honor and a greeting, a voice calls out to them: "This is Paradise, which you have been made to inherit for what you used to do." This inheritance is a beautiful balance — it is purely by Allah's mercy and grace that they entered, yet their righteous deeds, done sincerely for His sake, were the means by which they earned this station. It is a reminder that Allah's mercy and His justice work hand in hand: His grace opens the door, and their deeds determined their rank within it.
A Call to the Heart:
Dear believer, reflect on this scene and let it inspire your journey. The people of Paradise were not angels — they were human beings like you and me, with struggles, imperfections, and moments of weakness. But they held onto faith, they purified their hearts, and they strove in the path of Allah. And look at what awaited them! Not only did Allah forgive them, but He completely removed any lingering ill-feeling from their hearts, so that their joy would be untainted. This teaches us a profound lesson: let go of grudges now, purify your heart of envy and hatred, so that you may enter the Hereafter with a clean soul. And remember — guidance is a gift from Allah. Never become arrogant about your deeds; instead, remain humble, grateful, and constantly supplicating: "O Allah, guide us and keep us steadfast on Your path." For if Allah guides you, no one can mislead you, and if He grants you Paradise, no power can take it away. May we all be among those who hear that blessed call: "This is Paradise, which you have been made to inherit!"
