Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Nubaddila (نُبَدِّلَ): To replace or substitute one thing for another.
- Khayran minhum (خَيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ): Better than them — meaning better in faith, obedience, and submission to Allah.
- Bimasbuqin (بِمَسْبُوقِينَ): Those who are overtaken, overcome, or rendered incapable — i.e., unable to be stopped or escaped from.
Explanation of the Verse:
Allah Almighty swears by the Lord of the Easts and the Wests — the One who governs the rising and setting of the sun, the moon, and the stars — that He is fully capable of replacing these disbelievers who reject the truth and mock the promise of resurrection. He can bring forth a people better than them: more obedient to Allah, more sincere in their worship, and more steadfast upon His command. And Allah is never to be overtaken or defeated; no one can escape His will or frustrate His decree. If He intends to destroy them and bring another creation in their place, nothing in the heavens or the earth can prevent Him from doing so. This is a profound reminder that human power, wealth, and numbers are utterly insignificant before the might of Allah. Those who rely on their worldly strength and think they can evade accountability are living in grave delusion. The One who created them from a drop of fluid and raised them through stages of life is certainly able to annihilate them and replace them with a people who will humble themselves before Him.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart. The same Allah who manages the rising and setting of every sun and star — the One who holds the entire universe in His grasp — has promised that He will never let the truth be defeated. If a people turn away from Him, He is not in need of them; He can bring forth others who will love Him and be loved by Him. This is both a warning and an invitation. It is a warning to those who persist in arrogance and disbelief: your time is limited, and your power is borrowed. And it is an invitation to you, dear soul, to be among those whom Allah chooses as His righteous servants — those who will be honored in this life and the next. Do not let the fleeting pleasures of this world deceive you. The door of repentance is open, and the mercy of Allah is vast. Return to your Lord before the appointed hour arrives, and be among those who will be replaced for the better — not those who are replaced themselves. For Allah is Mighty, Capable, and His promise is true.
