Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Yakhūḍū (يَخُوضُوا): To plunge into or engage deeply in falsehood, vanity, and futile arguments.
- Yalʿabū (يَلْعَبُوا): To play, jest, or amuse themselves with worldly distractions.
- Yulāqū (يُلَاقُوا): To meet or encounter.
- Yawmahum (يَوْمَهُمُ): Their Day — meaning the Day of Resurrection.
- Yūʿadūn (يُوعَدُونَ): That which they are promised — i.e., the punishment and reckoning.
Tafsir (Explanation):
O Messenger, leave them alone — let them plunge deeper into their falsehood and play with the fleeting pleasures of this world. Do not grieve over their rejection or waste your energy trying to convince those who have sealed their hearts with arrogance. Their time is limited; they will soon meet the Day they have been promised — the Day of Resurrection, when they will face the very punishment they mock and deny.
On that Day, they will rush out of their graves in haste and terror, just as they used to rush toward their false gods and idols in worldly life — but this time, there will be no escape. Their eyes will be cast down in humiliation, covered with disgrace and utter abjection. That is the Day they were warned about in the Qur’an, the Day they used to ridicule and dismiss as a mere fantasy.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, ponder this profound truth: the One who created you and knows the deepest secrets of your soul has promised you a meeting with Him. The distractions of this world — its games, its arguments, its fleeting joys — are but a mist that vanishes with the morning sun. Do not let the temporary veil of this life blind you to the eternal reality that awaits. Every breath you take is a step toward that promised Day. Let this warning soften your heart, turn your face toward your Creator, and fill your life with deeds that will light your path on that dark and fearful morning. The Qur’an is not a book of threats alone — it is a mercy, a guide, and a call to salvation. Respond to it before the Day arrives when no response will avail you.
