Word Meanings:

  • Hashara (حَشَرَ): Gathered, assembled, or mustered together a large group of people.
  • Nādā (نَادَى): Called out or proclaimed aloud to the assembled crowd.

Explanation of the Verse:

After Pharaoh had rejected the signs of Allah and turned away in arrogance, he resorted to a desperate act of defiance. He gathered his people—his ministers, his soldiers, and the influential figures of his kingdom—and called out to them with a bold and shocking proclamation. This was not a mere announcement; it was a public declaration of his false divinity, an attempt to solidify his authority and challenge the truth brought by Prophet Moses (peace be upon him).

In this verse, Allah tells us that Pharaoh assembled his nation and then addressed them, setting the stage for his infamous claim: "I am your lord, the most high." He sought to rally his followers, to boost their morale, and to confront Moses with a show of strength and unity. Yet, in his arrogance, he forgot that the power of Allah far surpasses any earthly might. His gathering and his call were nothing but a fleeting moment in history—soon to be met with divine punishment that would drown him and his army in the sea, making him a lesson for all who dare to rebel against their Creator.

A Call to Reflection:

This scene from the life of Pharaoh is a timeless reminder of the fate of the arrogant. How often do we see powerful individuals who believe they are above accountability, gathering their resources and followers to oppose the truth? Yet, as this verse shows, their schemes are fragile before the will of Allah. The One who created the heavens and the earth needs no army to assert His authority—He simply says "Be," and it is.

For us as believers, this story invites us to place our trust in Allah alone, no matter how overwhelming the forces of falsehood may appear. Pharaoh had all the power of Egypt at his disposal, but Moses had the support of the Almighty. And in the end, it was not the tyrant who prevailed, but the truth. Let this be a source of strength for you: when you stand for righteousness, you stand with the Lord of the worlds, and no gathering of falsehood can ever overcome His decree.
