Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Al-Arā'ik (الأرائك): Plural of *arīkah*, which refers to luxurious couches or thrones placed within canopied pavilions, adorned with beautiful furnishings. These are the finest seats of honor and comfort.
Tafsir (Explanation):
In this verse, Allah describes the blissful state of the righteous believers in Paradise: they recline upon magnificent, adorned couches beneath canopies, gazing in wonder and delight. Their gaze is directed toward their Lord—the ultimate honor and joy—and toward the exquisite blessings prepared for them. They also behold the downfall of the disbelievers who are being punished, which adds to their contentment and gratitude. Their faces radiate the glow of happiness, and they are served pure, sealed wine whose final sip carries the fragrance of musk. This is a scene of absolute serenity, where every desire is fulfilled and every heart is at peace.
This verse inspires believers to strive for righteousness, for the reward is beyond imagination: not merely gardens and rivers, but the privilege of seeing their Creator and witnessing His justice. It reminds us that this fleeting world is but a test, while the Hereafter is the eternal abode where the faithful will enjoy what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived. Let this motivate you to hasten toward good deeds, for the competition in this life is for a prize that never fades. Rejoice, O believers, for your Lord has prepared for you what will fill your hearts with everlasting joy—so persevere in patience and prayer, and trust in His promise.
