Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- يُوعُونَ (Yoo‘oon): They conceal and keep within their hearts; they harbor and store up inwardly what they do not express outwardly.
Tafsir (Explanation):
After the previous verses established that the disbelievers refuse to bow in prostration to Allah and reject the Qur’an despite its clear signs, this verse delivers a profound reassurance and a stern warning: “And Allah knows best what they conceal.” Allah, the All-Knowing, is fully aware of every secret they hide within their chests — their stubbornness, their inner conviction that the message is true, and their deliberate refusal to submit out of arrogance and pride. Nothing escapes His knowledge, whether they voice their disbelief or bury it deep in their hearts. This is a direct address to their hypocrisy: they know the truth in their souls, yet they deny it outwardly. Allah’s knowledge is not passive — it is the foundation of perfect justice. Because He knows exactly what they harbor, His recompense will be precisely suited to their inner reality, and no hidden intention will go unaccounted for.
Da‘wah Reflection:
This verse carries a beautiful and humbling reminder for every soul: Allah sees what no one else can see. He knows the sincerity behind your silent prayers, the struggle you hide from people, and the faith you carry quietly in your heart. For the believer, this is a source of immense comfort — you do not need to prove yourself to anyone, for Allah knows your truth. For the one who hesitates, it is a gentle yet firm call: do not let pride or stubbornness blind you from the truth that your own heart already recognizes. The Qur’an is not a burden; it is a mercy. Bowing in submission to Allah is not humiliation — it is liberation. Open your heart, and let the One who knows what is within it guide you to peace. For those who believe and do good, the reward is unending and ever-flowing — a promise from the One whose knowledge is absolute and whose justice is perfect.
