  • Ghayz (غَيْظَ): Intense anger, rage, or fury that fills the heart due to injustice or oppression.
  • Yudhhib (يُذْهِبْ): To remove, take away, or eliminate completely.
  • Yatoobu Allahu (يَتُوبُ اللَّهُ): Allah turns in mercy and accepts repentance.

  • Hakeem (حَكِيمٌ): All-Wise, who places everything in its perfect and proper position.

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this profound verse, Allah continues His promise to the believers regarding the struggle against the enemies of truth. After mentioning that He will grant victory to the believers and humiliate the disbelievers, Allah now addresses the emotional and spiritual state of the believers' hearts.

Allah says: "And He will remove the rage from their hearts." This refers to the deep-seated anger and grief that had accumulated in the hearts of the believers due to the prolonged persecution, conspiracies, and hostility they endured from the disbelievers. The believers had suffered greatly—they were driven from their homes, tortured, and fought against for simply believing in Allah. This verse is a beautiful promise that the victory Allah grants is not merely military or political—it is also a healing of the soul. When Allah grants victory to His servants, He removes that burning sensation of injustice that had weighed heavily upon them, replacing it with peace, satisfaction, and tranquility.

Then Allah says: "And Allah turns in mercy to whom He wills." This is a magnificent display of Allah's boundless mercy. Even after the believers have fought against the disbelievers, and even after victory has been achieved, Allah's mercy remains open. Some of those who had been enemies of Islam were guided to the truth and embraced the faith—as happened with many prominent figures on the day of the conquest of Makkah. This teaches us a profound lesson: no matter how far a person has strayed, the door of repentance is never closed. Allah's mercy is not limited by past sins or hostility; rather, it is granted to whomever Allah wills, and He knows who is sincere in their turning back to Him.

The verse concludes: "And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise." He knows the true state of every heart—who is sincere in their repentance and who is merely pretending. And He is All-Wise in His actions, His decrees, and His legislation. Nothing He does is without purpose or wisdom. He knows exactly when to grant victory, when to test, and when to open the doors of mercy.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse carries a beautiful message of hope for every believer. When you are wronged, when your heart is filled with grief and anger due to oppression, know that Allah sees it all. He has promised to remove that pain from your heart in His own perfect timing. The victory may not come immediately, but it will come—and with it comes healing.

Moreover, the verse reminds us of the beautiful balance in Islam: even in the context of struggle and conflict, mercy remains paramount. Allah does not close the door of repentance even for those who had been enemies. This is the beauty of our faith—it is a religion of mercy, forgiveness, and hope. No matter what you have done in the past, no matter how far you have strayed, Allah's mercy is greater. Turn back to Him sincerely, and He will accept you, forgive you, and transform your life.

Let this verse inspire you to trust in Allah's wisdom, to remain patient in hardship, and to never despair of His mercy—for He is indeed All-Knowing of your struggles and All-Wise in how He resolves them.

📜 Verse 13-17 — Surah At-Tawbah

Would you not fight a people who broke their oaths and determined to expel the Messenger, and they had begun [the attack upon] you the first time? Do you fear them? But Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are [truly] believers.
Fight them; Allah will punish them by your hands and will disgrace them and give you victory over them and satisfy the breasts of a believing people
And remove the fury in the believers' hearts. And Allah turns in forgiveness to whom He wills; and Allah is Knowing and Wise.
Do you think that you will be left [as you are] while Allah has not yet made evident those among you who strive [for His cause] and do not take other than Allah, His Messenger and the believers as intimates? And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
It is not for the polytheists to maintain the mosques of Allah [while] witnessing against themselves with disbelief. [For] those, their deeds have become worthless, and in the Fire they will abide eternally.
