Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • "Mala'ihi" (مَلَئِهِ): His chiefs, nobles, and the prominent leaders of his people.
  • "Rashid" (رَشِيد): Right-minded, guided by wisdom, sound in judgment, and leading to the path of truth.

Tafsir (Explanation):

Allah, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, sent His Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) with clear signs and a divine message to Fir'awn (Pharaoh) and his inner circle of elite advisors, ministers, and nobles. These were the people who held influence and power in Egypt, and addressing them was a strategic call—because if the leaders were guided, the masses would follow.

Yet, despite the clarity of Musa's miracles and the truth of his call, Fir'awn's arrogance blinded him. He commanded his people to reject Musa and to persist in disbelief, and tragically, his chiefs and followers obeyed him without reflection. They surrendered their intellects to a tyrant, abandoning the voice of reason and revelation.

The Qur'an then delivers a profound verdict: "And the command of Fir'awn was not right-minded." This means that his orders were devoid of any wisdom, guidance, or correctness. His rule was built on falsehood, oppression, and folly. His decisions led his people to destruction in this world and the next—a stark contrast to the commands of Allah, which are always just, wise, and beneficial.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, ponder this scene: a powerful king who had everything—wealth, armies, and authority—yet his "command" was nothing but ruin. How many leaders throughout history have led their nations to misery simply because they were followed blindly? The lesson is timeless: never surrender your conscience to anyone, no matter how powerful, when their path contradicts the truth. True success lies in following the guidance of Allah, the Creator, who knows what is best for His creation. His commands are always *rashid*—wise and right-minded—leading to peace in this life and eternal bliss in the Hereafter.

Let this verse inspire you to be among those who listen to the truth, weigh it with an open heart, and choose the path of righteousness—even if the majority oppose it. For the pleasure of Allah and His guidance are the greatest treasures one can ever attain.
