Tafsir (Explanation):
Allah, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, has subjected the night and the day to you—the night for rest, tranquility, and stillness, and the day for striving, seeking provision, and carrying out the affairs of your life. He has also subjugated the sun to give you radiant light and warmth, and the moon to provide gentle illumination and to help you calculate months, years, and the passage of time. As for the stars, they are subjugated by His command—guiding you through the darkness of land and sea, helping you determine directions, and serving as signs in the heavens for those who reflect.
Indeed, in this perfect subjugation of these mighty celestial bodies—each moving in its precise orbit without deviation, each fulfilling its purpose without fail—there are clear and undeniable signs for people who use their intellect. These are people who do not merely look with their eyes but ponder with their minds, recognizing that this flawless system could not have come into existence by chance. They understand that the One who orchestrated this magnificent harmony is Allah alone, the All-Powerful, the All-Wise.
Reflect, dear reader: the sun rises every morning without fail, the moon waxes and wanes in perfect cycles, the stars remain fixed in their positions to guide you, and the night and day alternate with precision. All of this is not for Allah's benefit—He has no need of these creations—but for yours. It is a manifestation of His love and care for humanity, inviting you to know Him, to be grateful to Him, and to live your life in obedience to Him.
So let your intellect lead you to faith. Let these signs stir your heart to gratitude. And let this realization draw you closer to your Creator, who has placed all of this at your service—not because you deserve it, but because His mercy encompasses everything. Will you not then turn to Him with a grateful heart and a submissive soul?
