- Ni‘matī — My favors and blessings, both religious and worldly.

Tafsir (Explanation):
Allah, the Most Merciful, addresses the Children of Israel with a call full of compassion and reminder: "O descendants of Ya‘qūb!" He urges them to recall His abundant blessings — the blessings of faith, prophethood, revealed scriptures like the Torah and the Gospel, and worldly favors such as safety, sustenance, and leadership. He then reminds them of His special distinction: He favored them over the nations of their era by sending them numerous prophets and granting them kingship and honor.
This remembrance is not merely a mental exercise; it is a call to gratitude, obedience, and humility. When a person truly remembers the favors of Allah, their heart softens, their tongue praises Him, and their limbs submit to His commands. The reminder here also carries a gentle warning: with great favor comes great responsibility. The Children of Israel were given much, and they were expected to respond with faith and thankfulness — yet some turned away, and this serves as a lesson for all humanity.
A Da‘wah Reflection:
Dear reader, this verse speaks to every soul that has ever received a blessing from Allah. Look around you — your health, your family, your intellect, the air you breathe, the food you eat — all are from His boundless mercy. The greatest blessing of all is Islam and the guidance of the Qur’an, which He has preserved for us until the end of time. When you recognize these favors, your heart naturally fills with love for your Creator, and you find peace in submitting to Him. Let this verse inspire you to be among those who remember Allah with gratitude, for He says in another verse: "If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]" (Ibrāhīm 14:7). Gratitude opens the doors of increase, while forgetfulness closes them. So be mindful — every breath is a blessing, and every moment is an opportunity to draw closer to the One who gave you everything.
