Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Naseetaha (فَنَسِيتَهَا): You neglected it, abandoned it, and failed to act upon it — not merely forgetting in the mind, but willfully turning away from it.
- Tunsa (تُنسَى): You are left, forsaken, and abandoned — cast off in punishment like something utterly forgotten.
Explanation of the Verse:
This is the divine response to the disbeliever who, on the Day of Judgment, will cry out in bewilderment: "My Lord, why have you raised me blind, while I used to see?" The answer comes with profound justice and perfect clarity:
Allah says: "Just as My signs and revelations came to you in the worldly life, and you neglected them, turned away from them, and refused to act upon them — so today, you are neglected and left to your fate in the Fire."
The equation is exact and fair. In the life of this world, the Qur'an was recited to you, the proofs of Allah's existence and oneness were laid bare before you, the messengers brought you glad tidings and warnings — yet you treated these divine signs as if they were nothing. You did not merely forget them; you deliberately ignored them, brushed them aside, and chose your own desires over the truth. You had the light, but you shut your eyes to it.
And so, the recompense matches the deed perfectly: just as you left the signs of Allah unheeded, Allah leaves you in the Fire, abandoned to your punishment, with no mercy, no intercession, and no way out. The neglect you showed toward divine guidance becomes the neglect you experience in eternal torment.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, pause at this verse and let it touch your heart. The Qur'an is not a book to be shelved or recited without reflection — it is a living message, a divine call to every soul. Every verse you hear or read is an opportunity to draw closer to your Creator. Do not be among those who hear the truth and walk away, for the regret on that Day will be beyond measure.
Today, the door of repentance is wide open. The signs of Allah are before you: the Qur'an, the universe, your own conscience. Embrace them, act upon them, and let them transform your life. For whoever honors the signs of Allah in this world will find, by Allah's grace, that Allah honors them on the Day they need Him most. Do not let the negligence of today become the abandonment of tomorrow. Turn to Allah now, and He will turn to you with mercy that knows no end.
