Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Al-Thara (الثَّرَى): The moist earth or soil, referring to the deepest layers of the ground beneath the surface.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse establishes the absolute and exclusive ownership of Allah over all that exists. Everything in the heavens—the stars, planets, galaxies, and all unseen realms—belongs to Him. Everything on the earth—from the mountains and oceans to every living creature and every particle of dust—is under His dominion. And everything that lies between the heavens and the earth, including the vast expanses of space and all that exists within them, is His creation and possession. Moreover, even what lies beneath the moist, deep earth—the hidden layers of soil, the rocks, the treasures buried within, and all creatures that dwell in the darkness below—is entirely His.
This ownership is not merely nominal; it is comprehensive in three ways: creation (He brought everything into existence from nothing), sovereignty (He alone has absolute authority over all things), and administration (He alone manages, sustains, and governs every affair with perfect wisdom).
Reflection and Da'wah:
When you realize that the heavens and the earth, and everything between them and beneath them, all belong to Allah alone, your heart finds a profound sense of peace and security. You understand that you are never truly alone—you are always in the care of the One who owns everything. When you face hardship, remember that the One who controls the heavens and the earth is your Lord, and He is fully capable of removing your difficulties. When you feel lost, know that the One who knows what lies beneath the deepest soil is fully aware of your situation and your needs.
This verse also calls you to humility. If all of creation belongs to Allah, then you are a servant in His vast dominion. Your role is not to compete with the Creator but to worship Him, obey His commands, and live in harmony with His creation. The more you reflect on the greatness of His ownership, the more you will love Him, trust Him, and submit to Him willingly. And know that the One who owns everything is the Most Generous—He invites you to call upon Him, promising to respond. So turn to Him with a sincere heart, for everything you have and everything you are is already His, and He is the best of caretakers.
