📜

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(Ar-Rahman): The Most Merciful, the One whose mercy encompasses all of creation.
(Al-‘Arsh): The Throne, the greatest and most magnificent of Allah’s creations, which no one truly comprehends except Him.
(Istawā): Rose above, ascended, and established Himself in a manner that befits His majesty and greatness — without any resemblance to creation.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse is a profound declaration of Allah’s absolute sovereignty and supreme majesty. Allah introduces Himself as Ar-Rahman — the Most Merciful — and then states that He has risen over the Throne (istawā) in a way that perfectly suits His divine glory. This rising is not like the sitting or standing of any creature; it is an act of elevation and establishment that is unique to Allah, free from any physical form, direction, or limitation. The scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah affirm this attribute as it is revealed, without asking "how" (takyeef), without likening it to creation (tamtheel), and without distorting its meaning (tahreef). The Throne is the greatest of Allah’s creations, and His rising over it signifies His complete control, authority, and management of all that exists — from the highest heavens to the depths of the earth. Nothing escapes His knowledge, power, or mercy. This verse reassures the believer that the One who governs the universe is not a distant or indifferent force, but Ar-Rahman — the Most Merciful — whose throne is a symbol of His kingship, and whose mercy fills all things.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, when you ponder this verse, let your heart be filled with awe and tranquility. The One who created the heavens and the earth, who holds the Throne above all, is the Most Merciful. He is not in need of His creation, yet He cares for every single being with boundless compassion. This is the God we worship — majestic in His power, yet near to us in His mercy. So turn to Him with confidence, for the One who rose over the Throne is the One who hears your prayers, knows your struggles, and answers your calls. Let this knowledge strengthen your faith and draw you closer to Him, for there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, and no mercy greater than His. Embrace Islam with a sincere heart, and you will find in this verse a source of peace that transcends all worldly concerns.

📜 Verse 3-7 — Taha

But only as a reminder for those who fear [Allah] -
A revelation from He who created the earth and highest heavens,
The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established.
To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth and what is between them and what is under the soil.
And if you speak aloud - then indeed, He knows the secret and what is [even] more hidden.
