Explanation of the Verse:
This noble verse highlights the extraordinary wisdom and divine favor bestowed upon two great prophets—Dawood (David) and his son Sulayman (Solomon), peace be upon them both. The context refers to a dispute brought before Prophet Dawood regarding a field that had been damaged by sheep that strayed into it at night. Dawood ruled that the sheep should be given to the owner of the field as compensation. However, Allah, in His infinite wisdom, granted Sulayman a deeper and more precise understanding of the case: he ruled that the sheep should be handed to the field owner to benefit from their milk, wool, and offspring, while the field owner would give his damaged land to the sheep owner to restore and cultivate. Once the land returned to its original productive state, each party would reclaim their property—ensuring justice for both sides without loss to either.
Allah then clarifies that He gave both Dawood and Sulayman prophethood, sound judgment, and sacred knowledge—not singling out one over the other in these blessings. Furthermore, Allah subjected the mountains and the birds to glorify Him alongside Dawood, as they would join him in praising Allah whenever he did so. This was a unique honor demonstrating the profound connection between the prophet and creation. The verse concludes with Allah affirming that He is fully capable of doing all that He wills—whether granting understanding, bestowing knowledge, or subjecting nature to His prophets.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Beloved reader, ponder the greatness of the Creator who grants wisdom to whom He wills and elevates His servants in knowledge and understanding. This verse teaches us that true justice requires deep insight, not merely surface-level rulings—a lesson for every judge, leader, and parent. It also reveals the harmony between the natural world and the divine message: the mountains and birds glorified Allah with Dawood, reminding us that all creation is in a state of submission to its Lord. Let this inspire you to seek knowledge sincerely, to strive for fairness in all your affairs, and to recognize that Allah’s wisdom surpasses all human understanding. When you turn to Him with a pure heart, He opens doors of comprehension you never imagined. The same Allah who taught Sulayman the intricacies of justice and subjected mountains to Dawood is capable of guiding your heart and illuminating your path. Embrace His guidance, and you will find peace in this life and the next.
