Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Anzala – Sent down, brought down.
  • Mā’ – Water, meaning rain.
  • Muskhaddarah – Green, covered with vegetation and plant life.
  • Latīf – Subtle, kind, gentle, and fully aware of the finest details in His creation.
  • Khabīr – All-Aware, knowing everything apparent and hidden.

Explanation of the Verse:

Have you not observed, O Prophet, with your own eyes and reflected upon it? Allah sends down rain from the sky, and then, by His will, the earth that was dry and barren becomes green and lush, bursting forth with plants and vegetation of every kind. This is not a random act of nature—it is the work of Allah alone, who controls the clouds, the wind, and the rain, and who brings life to dead soil.

Indeed, Allah is Latīf—subtle and kind to His servants. He does not send the rain all at once in a destructive flood, but gently and gradually, in measured amounts, so that the earth can absorb it and produce what benefits people and animals. He is Khabīr—fully aware of what His creation needs, knowing every detail of their welfare, whether hidden or apparent. Nothing escapes His knowledge, and He arranges all affairs with perfect wisdom.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

This verse invites every human being to open their eyes and contemplate the world around them. Look at the earth before the rain: dry, cracked, and lifeless. Then look at it after the rain: green, vibrant, and full of life. Who else could do this but Allah? This is a living sign of His power and mercy, displayed before us every single year.

If Allah can bring life to a dead earth with water, then He is certainly able to bring life to dead hearts with guidance, and to resurrect the dead on the Day of Judgment. So let this sight strengthen your faith, increase your gratitude, and remind you that the same Allah who cares for the earth and its plants cares for you even more. He knows your needs, hears your prayers, and is always near. Turn to Him with a humble heart, and you will find Him gentle, kind, and fully aware of everything you go through.

📜 Verse 61-65 — Al-Hajj

That is because Allah causes the night to enter the day and causes the day to enter the night and because Allah is Hearing and Seeing.
That is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the Most High, the Grand.
Do you not see that Allah has sent down rain from the sky and the earth becomes green? Indeed, Allah is Subtle and Acquainted.
To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth. And indeed, Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.
Do you not see that Allah has subjected to you whatever is on the earth and the ships which run through the sea by His command? And He restrains the sky from falling upon the earth, unless by His permission. Indeed Allah, to the people, is Kind and Merciful.
