Surah Ash-Shu'ara — Verse 143

Tafsir (Explanation):

Prophet Ṣāliḥ (peace be upon him) addressed his people, the Thamūd, with these words: "Indeed, I am to you a messenger, trustworthy." He was affirming his role as a divinely appointed envoy, sent by Allah alone, to call them to the worship of the One True God and to warn them of His punishment. His trustworthiness (amānah) was not merely a personal trait but a fundamental requirement of his mission—he conveyed exactly what was revealed to him, neither adding nor subtracting from it, and he delivered the message with complete sincerity and honesty. This declaration was meant to reassure his people that his call was not born of personal ambition, greed, or self-interest, but was a sacred duty entrusted to him by his Lord. He sought no reward from them for his guidance and counsel; his recompense was solely with the Lord of all the worlds. His words carried both a gentle reassurance and a firm warning: fear Allah, obey His command, and be mindful of the consequences of rejection.
