Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Yabda' al-khalq (begins the creation): Initiates and originates creation from nothing, bringing it into existence stage by stage.
  • Yu'iduhu (repeats it): Restores and brings creation back to life after death, as in the resurrection.
  • Yarzuqukum (provides for you): Sustains you with all forms of provision and livelihood.
  • Min al-sama' (from the sky): Refers to rain sent down from the heavens.
  • Min al-ard (from the earth): Refers to vegetation, crops, and all that the earth brings forth.
  • Burhanakum (your proof): Your clear evidence, argument, or demonstration that supports your claim.

The Interpretation:

This verse challenges the polytheists with a profound question that strikes at the very heart of their beliefs. Allah asks: Who is it that initiates creation in the first place—bringing every living being into existence from nothing, developing the embryo in the womb stage by stage? And then, after death, who is it that will bring creation back to life for the Day of Resurrection? Who is it that provides for you from the sky, sending down rain that revives the earth, and from the earth, causing plants, fruits, and all manner of sustenance to grow for your benefit?

These are undeniable realities that every person witnesses and experiences daily. The one who can do all of this—begin creation, repeat it, and sustain all of existence—is none other than Allah alone. So the verse asks rhetorically: Is there any deity alongside Allah who does any of this? The answer is self-evident: absolutely not. No partner, no rival, no idol, and no false god has any share in these divine acts.

Then Allah instructs His Messenger to say to them: "Bring your proof if you are truthful." This is a powerful challenge—if you truly believe that these idols or false deities deserve worship alongside Allah, then present your evidence. Show us what they have created, what they provide, or what they can do. But they will never be able to produce any proof, because none exists. Their claim is baseless, built on nothing but blind imitation and falsehood.

This verse is a call to reflect on the undeniable signs of Allah's power and mercy all around us. Every breath you take, every meal you eat, every drop of rain that falls—all of it is a testimony to His oneness. The One who created you and sustains you is the only One worthy of your worship. So turn to Him with a sincere heart, submit to Him alone, and let your life be a living proof of your gratitude to the One who never ceases to provide for you.

📜 Verse 62-66 — An-Naml

Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Little do you remember.
Is He [not best] who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy? Is there a deity with Allah? High is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
Is He [not best] who begins creation and then repeats it and who provides for you from the heaven and earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful."
Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected."
Rather, their knowledge is arrested concerning the Hereafter. Rather, they are in doubt about it. Rather, they are, concerning it, blind.
