Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Al-Hamd (الْحَمْدُ): Perfect praise and gratitude, acknowledging all blessings belong to Allah alone.
  • Ayatihi (آيَاتِهِ): His signs, miracles, and proofs — both in the universe and in the events of history.
  • Ta'rifunaha (تَعْرِفُونَهَا): You will recognize them with certainty, when they become undeniable.
  • Ghafil (غَافِلٍ): Negligent, unaware, or heedless.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O noble Messenger, declare openly and with a heart full of gratitude: "All praise belongs to Allah alone" — for His countless blessings, His guidance, and His perfect wisdom. Then deliver this profound promise and warning: Allah will certainly show you His signs — in the heavens and the earth, in yourselves, and in the unfolding events of history. You will witness His power in the rise and fall of nations, in the victories of truth over falsehood, and in the ultimate justice that strikes the wrongdoers. On that day, you will recognize these signs with absolute certainty, and you will know that this Quran is indeed the truth from your Lord.

But this recognition will come when it is too late for those who rejected the message — when the punishment descends, as it did at Badr and at the Conquest of Makkah, and as it will on the Day of Resurrection. At that moment, every soul will know with certainty, but knowledge will no longer benefit them.

And know this, O people: your Lord is never heedless of what you do. He is fully aware of every deed, every word, and every intention — nothing escapes His knowledge. The delay of punishment is not due to negligence, but due to His mercy and His perfect timing. He gives you respite so that you may turn back to Him, but He never forgets.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse carries a beautiful message of hope and a firm warning. On one hand, it fills the believer's heart with gratitude — for Allah's signs are all around us, waiting to be discovered. Every sunrise, every rain drop, every breath you take is a sign pointing to His existence and His majesty. On the other hand, it awakens the soul from heedlessness — you are never alone, never unobserved. Your Lord sees you, knows you, and will reward you with perfect justice.

So, dear reader, open your eyes to the signs around you. Look at the vast sky, the mountains, the oceans, and your own body — how perfectly it functions. These are not accidents; they are the signs of a Wise Creator who loves you and calls you to Him. And remember: every good deed you do is recorded, and every wrong you commit is known. But Allah's mercy is greater — He forgives those who turn to Him in sincere repentance. So praise Him now, before the day comes when you will see His signs with eyes that can no longer benefit from seeing.

And to recite the Qur'an." And whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] himself; and whoever strays - say, "I am only [one] of the warners."
