Word Meanings:

  • Muṣībah (مصيبة): A calamity or punishment that strikes as a consequence of one's deeds.
  • Bimā qaddamat aydīhim (بما قدمت أيديهم): Due to what their hands have sent forth—i.e., the sins, disbelief, and evil actions they committed.
  • Lawlā (لولا): Here it means "why not" or "if only"—used as a plea or reproach.
  • Āyātika (آياتك): Your signs, revelations, and verses sent down in the divine books.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse reveals the profound wisdom behind Allah’s sending of messengers and His divine mercy in not punishing people immediately. The meaning is: Were it not for the fact that these disbelievers would be struck by a punishment as a direct result of their own sins—disbelief, polytheism, and disobedience—and that they would then have an excuse to say, "Our Lord, why did You not send us a messenger? If only You had sent us a prophet, we would have followed Your verses and believed in You," Allah would have hastened the punishment upon them in this very world.

But Allah, in His perfect justice and mercy, did not do so. Instead, He delayed the punishment and sent messengers to every nation, so that no one could claim ignorance or lack of guidance. The sending of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was precisely to cut off any excuse and to leave humanity without a single argument against Allah on the Day of Judgment.

This verse teaches us a beautiful lesson: Allah never punishes a people without first sending them clear guidance. He is far too just to leave anyone in darkness and then hold them accountable without warning. The very fact that you are reading this, that you have access to the Qur'an and the teachings of Islam, is a sign of Allah's mercy toward you—He has given you the means to know Him, to follow His verses, and to be among the believers.

So seize this opportunity! Do not be among those who wait for excuses. The messenger has come, the Book is in your hands, and the path to eternal success is clear. Follow the verses of Allah sincerely, act upon them, and you will be among the believers who will be saved from the punishment and granted the highest ranks in Paradise. Allah's mercy is vast, and His doors of repentance are open—let today be the day you respond to His call.

📜 Verse 45-49 — Al-Qasas

But We produced [many] generations [after Moses], and prolonged was their duration. And you were not a resident among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our verses, but We were senders [of this message].
And you were not at the side of the mount when We called [Moses] but [were sent] as a mercy from your Lord to warn a people to whom no warner had come before you that they might be reminded.
And if not that a disaster should strike them for what their hands put forth [of sins] and they would say, "Our Lord, why did You not send us a messenger so we could have followed Your verses and been among the believers?"...
But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?" Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before? They said, "[They are but] two works of magic supporting each other, and indeed we are, in both, disbelievers."
Say, "Then bring a scripture from Allah which is more guiding than either of them that I may follow it, if you should be truthful."
