Explanation of the Verse:
O Prophet Muhammad, you were not present on the side of Mount Sinai when We called out to Musa and honored him with direct speech and revelation. You did not witness that moment, nor did you learn it from any human source. Rather, We revealed this knowledge to you as a mercy from your Lord — a mercy that encompasses all of creation. Through this divine revelation, We sent you as a warner to a people — the people of Makkah — who had not received any warner before you. They lived in a period of gap between the message of Prophet Isa (Jesus) and your prophethood, during which the original teachings had been lost or distorted, and ignorance and idolatry had spread among them.
This verse carries a profound message: you were not there, but We chose to inform you of these unseen events to establish the truth of your prophethood and to equip you with knowledge that no human could have acquired on their own. Your mission is not born of personal ambition but of divine mercy. You are sent to warn them so that they may reflect upon the truth you bring — to embrace the good you command and avoid the evil you prohibit — and thus attain salvation in this life and the Hereafter.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
This verse fills the heart with awe at the greatness of Allah’s mercy. He did not leave humanity without guidance; rather, He sent messengers one after another, and when the chain was interrupted, He sent His final messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon him), as a fresh call to truth. The fact that Allah granted you, O believer, the opportunity to know this Quran and to follow this final messenger is itself a mercy beyond measure. Reflect: how many people before you lived and died without receiving this guidance? How many today remain unaware of this divine call? Let this realization awaken in you gratitude, and let it move you to share this beautiful message with others — for it is a mercy that deserves to be known, cherished, and conveyed.
