Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse reveals a profound moment of divine care and reassurance. When Musa (peace be upon him) was born, the tyrant Pharaoh had ordered the slaughter of all newborn Israelite boys. Allah, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, placed a special inspiration into the heart of Musa's mother — not a revelation of prophethood, but a divine guidance and inner knowing. He instructed her: "Nurse your child with peace of mind, and when you fear that his secret may be discovered or that Pharaoh's soldiers may find him, place him in a chest and cast him into the river — the Nile."
Allah then gave her two beautiful assurances: "Do not fear and do not grieve." Do not fear that the river will drown him, and do not fear that Pharaoh will kill him. Do not grieve over the separation, for this is not an end — it is a beginning. Allah promised her: "Indeed, We will return him to you, and We will make him one of the Messengers." This was not just a promise of safe return; it was a promise of a magnificent destiny — her son would grow up to be a great Prophet and Messenger of Allah, and the very tyrant who sought to kill him would unknowingly raise him in his own palace.
So she obeyed. She placed her infant son in a sealed chest and cast it into the Nile at night, trusting in the One who controls all things. The river carried him to the doorstep of Pharaoh's palace, where his wife found him and took him in — and thus, Allah fulfilled His promise, returning the child to his mother's arms to nurse, and eventually raising him as a mighty Messenger.
A Call to Reflect and Strengthen Your Faith:
This story is a living lesson in *tawakkul* — complete trust in Allah. Imagine the heart of a mother, the most protective and loving of hearts, being asked to cast her innocent baby into a river. Yet she did it, because she knew that the One who commanded her was the same One who created the river, the baby, and Pharaoh himself. When Allah promises, He fulfills — without fail.
In your own life, you may face situations that seem impossible, where the path ahead is dark and your heart trembles with fear or grief. Remember this mother. Remember that Allah's plan is always greater than your worries. He may ask you to let go of something you love, to step into the unknown, or to endure a painful separation — but if He has promised you good, then good will come, even if you cannot see it yet. His promise to Musa's mother was not just about returning her son; it was about elevating her son to a rank of prophethood. Likewise, your trials may be the very means by which Allah elevates you, purifies your soul, and opens doors you never imagined.
So hold firm to Allah, trust Him with your whole heart, and know that after every hardship comes ease. The same Allah who calmed the Nile for a baby in a chest is the One who watches over you every single moment. Let this story fill you with hope, courage, and an unshakable love for your Creator.
