Surah Al-'Ankabut — Verse 35

After narrating the destruction of the people of Prophet Lot (peace be upon him) — a people who had sunk into the depths of immorality and rejected the call of their prophet — Allah, the Most High, declares that He left behind from their ruined dwellings a clear, enduring sign for those who possess sound intellect.

This sign is the physical remnants of their destroyed homes and cities — a silent witness to the fate that befell those who defied Allah’s commands. These ruins stood as a stark reminder that the punishment of Allah is real, and that no power, wealth, or social status could protect them from His justice when His decree came to pass.

The verse emphasizes that this sign is "bayyinah" — absolutely clear and evident. It is not hidden or ambiguous; it is visible to anyone who passes by that region. The stones, the overturned dwellings, the desolate landscape — all speak of a catastrophe that was divinely ordained.

For the greatest success lies not in accumulating the fleeting pleasures of this world, but in attaining the pleasure of Allah and the everlasting bliss of Paradise.
