Explanation of the Verse:
This verse continues to describe the state of the martyrs who have been granted the honour of being in the presence of their Lord. After mentioning their joy for those they left behind, Allah now tells us that they rejoice for themselves as well — and their joy is not merely for something small, but for a tremendous blessing from Allah and an abundant favour that surpasses all expectations. They are overjoyed because they have received Allah’s grace, and because they know with certainty that Allah does not let the reward of the believers go to waste. Rather, He multiplies it, perfects it, and adds to it from His infinite generosity. Their happiness is thus twofold: the blessing itself, and the knowledge that Allah’s promise is true and His reward is ever-increasing.
This is a profound reassurance for every believer: no act of faith, no sacrifice, no patience in the path of Allah is ever lost. Even if the world forgets, even if people do not acknowledge your efforts, Allah sees it all and rewards it beyond measure. The martyrs, having witnessed this reality firsthand, are filled with a joy that cannot be described in worldly terms.
A Da‘wah Reflection:
What a beautiful and heartening message this is for every Muslim! If you are striving in the way of Allah — whether through your wealth, your time, your knowledge, or your very soul — know that your Lord is not unjust and does not forget. He is the Most Generous, and His reward is not like the reward of creation. When you give for His sake, He gives you back more than you can imagine, in this life and in the Hereafter. The martyrs rejoice in this truth, and so can you. Let this verse fill your heart with hope and strengthen your resolve to continue on the path of faith, for the One who promised is the One who never breaks His promise. And what a joy it will be when you, too, meet your Lord and see the reward of your patience and sincerity!
