📖 English Meaning
The Day every soul will find what it has done of good present [before it] and what it has done of evil, it will wish that between itself and that [evil] was a great distance. And Allah warns you of Himself, and Allah is Kind to [His] servants."

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Muḥḍaran (مُحْضَرًا): Present, brought forth, fully prepared and ready — nothing missing from it.
  • Sū’ (سُوء): Evil, wrongdoing, sin — any deed that is harmful or displeasing to Allah.
  • Tawadd (تَوَدّ): To wish deeply, to long for.
  • Amadan ba‘īdan (أَمَدًا بَعِيدًا): A distant span of time or a far-off distance.
  • Yuḥadhdhirukum (يُحَذِّرُكُم): He warns you, makes you cautious and fearful.
  • Ra’ūf (رَءُوف): Most Kind, Most Compassionate, full of tenderness and mercy.

Tafsir (Explanation):

On that Day — the Day of Judgment — every single soul will find every good deed it ever performed placed right before it, fully preserved, complete and undiminished, waiting to be rewarded. Not a single act of kindness, charity, patience, or worship will be lost. And likewise, every evil deed — every sin, every wrong — will also be brought forward, standing before its doer. At that moment, the sinner will wish desperately that there were an immense distance — years, centuries, an eternity — between himself and that evil deed. He will wish he could run from it, but there will be nowhere to hide.

This is the reality of that Day, and Allah — in His infinite mercy — is telling us now, before we reach it, so that we may prepare. He warns us of His own punishment, His own justice, His own might. And this warning is not out of harshness — it is out of love. For Allah is Ra’ūf bil-‘ibād: Most Kind to His servants. He does not want to destroy you; He wants to save you. He warns you so that you may turn back, repent, and do good before that Day arrives — when the good will be a joy to behold, and the evil a sorrow to bear.

So let this verse awaken your heart: every deed is being recorded, every action is being kept, and nothing will be forgotten. But the door of mercy is open now. Run to Allah before that Day when running will be of no avail. Seek His forgiveness, do good deeds, and let the fear of that Day drive you to the love of the One who warns you — because He cares for you more than you can imagine.

📜 Verse 28-32 — Aal-Imran

Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers. And whoever [of you] does that has nothing with Allah, except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the [final] destination.
Say, "Whether you conceal what is in your breasts or reveal it, Allah knows it. And He knows that which is in the heavens and that which is on the earth. And Allah is over all things competent.
The Day every soul will find what it has done of good present [before it] and what it has done of evil, it will wish that between itself and that [evil] was a great distance. And Allah warns you of Himself, and Allah is Kind to [His] servants."
Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."
Say, "Obey Allah and the Messenger." But if they turn away - then indeed, Allah does not like the disbelievers.
