- غَفُورٌ (Oft-Forgiving): He overlooks and erases their sins and shortcomings.
- شَكُورٌ (Most Appreciative): He acknowledges and multiplies their good deeds, rewarding them abundantly for even the smallest acts of obedience.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse reveals the magnificent outcome awaiting those who recite the Qur'an, act upon its teachings, establish their prayers consistently at their prescribed times, and spend from the provisions Allah has granted them — whether in obligatory or voluntary charity, secretly or openly. These believers are engaged in a trade that will never fail or perish: they seek the pleasure of their Lord and the immense reward He has promised.
The verse clarifies that their ultimate goal is that Allah will complete their rewards in full — every good deed counted, every effort acknowledged, nothing diminished or lost. But the beauty does not stop there; He will increase them from His bounty, granting them beyond what they deserve — rewards that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart can imagine. This is the pure generosity of Allah, who gives not merely what is owed, but what His mercy and kindness inspire.
Then the verse closes with two of Allah's most beautiful attributes: He is Ghafoor (Oft-Forgiving) — He conceals and forgives the sins and shortcomings of these believers, not letting their faults diminish their standing; and He is Shakoor (Most Appreciative) — He values and multiplies their good deeds, rewarding them generously for their sincere efforts.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear believer, contemplate this divine promise! Allah does not treat you as a strict accountant who pays only what is due; rather, He is the Generous Lord who forgives your slips and multiplies your good deeds manifold. When you read the Qur'an, pray your prayers, and give in charity, you are not merely performing rituals — you are investing in an eternal trade with the One who never breaks His promise. This verse fills the heart with hope and joy: every verse you recite, every prayer you offer, every coin you give in charity is being recorded, preserved, and will be returned to you multiplied beyond imagination. So strive with sincerity, and let this promise be your motivation to increase in good deeds — for the reward is far greater than you can ever conceive, and the One who promised it is the Most Truthful of all speakers.
