Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- إِلَٰهَكُمْ (your God): The One Who is worshipped, the Deity.
- لَوَاحِدٌ (is certainly One): Unique, without any partner, equal, or associate in His essence, attributes, or rights.
Tafsir (Interpretation):
In this verse, Allah (Glorified be He) affirms the absolute oneness of His divinity, addressing all of humanity: "Indeed, your God is certainly One." This is a decisive declaration that eliminates every false object of worship and directs the heart exclusively to the Creator of the heavens and the earth. The verse follows an oath in which Allah swears by the angels who stand in ranks in worship, those who drive the clouds by His command, and those who recite the remembrance of Allah — all pointing to the magnificent order of the universe and the unseen forces that serve His will. After these mighty oaths, the central truth is proclaimed: the only true deity worthy of worship is Allah alone, with no partner, no rival, and no equal. He is the One who created, sustains, and governs all existence. Therefore, the believer is called to purify their worship — prayer, supplication, trust, love, and obedience — solely for Him, and to reject every form of shirk (associating partners with Allah).
Da'wah Reflection:
This verse is a beautiful invitation to the heart: your Lord is not distant or divided — He is One, near, and deserving of your complete devotion. When you realize that the Creator of the galaxies, the One who commands the angels, and the One who controls the clouds is your God, your soul finds peace. There is no confusion in worship, no intermediaries needed, and no fear of multiple gods competing for your attention. Islam calls you to a direct, pure, and loving relationship with your One True Lord. Embrace this truth, and you will find that your heart, once scattered among many concerns and false hopes, becomes focused, serene, and strong. Say with certainty: "My Lord is One, and to Him alone I submit." This is the essence of faith and the key to eternal success.
