Surah Az-Zumar — Verse 60

Tafsir (Explanation):

On the Day of Judgment, you will witness a terrifying and humiliating sight: the faces of those who fabricated lies against Allah — by attributing to Him a partner, a son, or a daughter, or by inventing laws and claims He never revealed — will be blackened with disgrace and sorrow. This blackening of their faces is a visible mark of their misery and the punishment they have earned through their arrogance and falsehood.

Then comes a piercing rhetorical question that strikes at the hearts of the arrogant: "Is there not in Hell a fitting abode for the proud?" The answer is undeniably yes! Hellfire is precisely the destination prepared for those who, in their pride, refused to worship Allah alone, rejected His messengers, and looked down upon the truth. Their arrogance in this world led them to deny and mock, and now they will be repaid with an eternal dwelling of fire and torment.

This verse is a powerful reminder that arrogance is the root of all evil. It was arrogance that caused Satan to refuse Allah's command, and it is arrogance that leads people to reject the truth and slander their Creator. The blackened faces on that Day are not just a physical punishment but a profound symbol of the inner darkness that consumed their hearts in this life.
