Surah Ghafir — Verse 53

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this verse, Allah reminds us of His great favor upon Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) and the Children of Israel. Allah says: "And indeed We gave Musa guidance"—meaning We granted him prophethood, wisdom, and the Torah, along with clear miracles that directed his people toward the truth and the straight path. This was not merely a personal gift; it was a divine light meant to illuminate the hearts of a whole nation.

Then Allah says: "And We made the Children of Israel inherit the Book"—meaning that after Musa, the Torah was passed down from generation to generation among the Children of Israel, so that it remained with them as a living legacy. They inherited it, preserved it, and were entrusted with it as a guide to righteousness and a reminder for those of sound intellect.

This verse carries a profound lesson: Allah does not leave humanity without guidance. He sends messengers, reveals books, and establishes a chain of knowledge so that truth remains accessible across time. The inheritance of the Book was a privilege and a responsibility—a call to hold fast to divine guidance and to live by it.

It is not merely to be inherited or recited, but to be understood, cherished, and lived. Let this verse inspire you to open your heart to the Qur'an, to reflect on its meanings, and to let it guide your steps. For whoever holds firmly to Allah's guidance will never be lost, and whoever turns away from it will find no true light elsewhere. Embrace this divine gift, and you will find peace in this life and success in the Hereafter.
