Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Fātir (فاطر): The Originator and Creator who brought the heavens and the earth into existence from nothing, without any prior model or example.
  • Azwāj (أزواج): Pairs or spouses — male and female counterparts.
  • An‘ām (الأنعام): Livestock — camels, cattle, sheep, and goats.
  • Yadhra’ukum (يذرؤكم): He multiplies you and increases your numbers through reproduction.
  • Laysa ka-mithlihi shay’ (ليس كمثله شيء): There is absolutely nothing like Him — no similarity whatsoever between the Creator and His creation.

Explanation of the Verse:

Allah — the One who originated the heavens and the earth with perfect wisdom and power — begins this verse by reminding us of His absolute creative authority. He is the sole Creator who brought into existence the vast universe, the skies above us, and the earth beneath our feet, all without any precedent or assistant.

Then He turns His attention to His boundless mercy toward humanity: He created for you spouses from your own kind — from yourselves — so that you may find tranquility, love, and compassion in one another. This is a profound blessing, for your spouse shares your nature, understands your needs, and completes you. And He did not stop there — He also created for you livestock in pairs, male and female, so that through their reproduction you may benefit from their meat, milk, and other provisions.

Through this pairing and reproduction, Allah multiplies you and increases your numbers on earth. This is a sign of His care and His design for the continuity of life — both human and animal — all serving your welfare.

Then comes the most majestic declaration: "There is nothing like unto Him." He is not comparable to any of His creations — not in His essence, not in His names, not in His attributes, and not in His actions. His names are all beautiful, His attributes are all perfect, and His actions are all wise. He is far above any resemblance to the things He created, no matter how great or subtle they may seem.

And He is As-Samī‘ (The All-Hearing) — He hears every word, every whisper, every silent prayer from His servants. And He is Al-Baṣīr (The All-Seeing) — He sees every action, every movement, every hidden intention. Nothing escapes His knowledge, and He will recompense everyone according to their deeds — good for good, and evil for evil.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this magnificent verse. The One who created the heavens and the earth — with all their vastness and perfection — is the same One who created your spouse for you, and the livestock for your benefit. He did not create you and leave you alone; He arranged your entire existence with care and precision.

This verse carries a beautiful message of hope: your Creator knows you intimately, provides for you continuously, and hears your every call. When you feel alone, remember that He is As-Samī‘ — He hears you. When you feel unseen, remember that He is Al-Baṣīr — He sees you and knows your struggles.

And because nothing is like Him, do not limit Him to your imagination or compare Him to anything you know. Rather, worship Him as He has described Himself, and let your heart find peace in knowing that your Lord is perfect in every way — perfect in His hearing, perfect in His seeing, perfect in His mercy, and perfect in His justice.

So turn to Him with confidence, for the One who created the heavens and the earth is fully capable of answering your prayers, easing your burdens, and guiding your steps. He is closer to you than you can imagine, and His care for you is greater than you can comprehend. Let this verse be a source of comfort and strength in your daily life, and let it draw you closer to the One who created you, sustains you, and loves you.

📜 Verse 9-13 — Ash-Shura

Or have they taken protectors [or allies] besides him? But Allah - He is the Protector, and He gives life to the dead, and He is over all things competent.
And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allah. [Say], "That is Allah, my Lord; upon Him I have relied, and to Him I turn back."
[He is] Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves, mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. He extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is, of all things, Knowing.
He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allah is that to which you invite them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him].
