Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Amran (أَمْرًا): A command, decree, or matter.
  • Min 'indinā (مِنْ عِندِنَا): From Our own presence — signifying divine origin, authority, and wisdom.
  • Kunnā mursilīn (كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ): We have always been sending (messengers) — indicating the continuous and established divine practice of sending prophets.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse completes the preceding description of the Qur'an's revelation, affirming that this entire decree — the sending down of the Book on the Blessed Night — is a command that originates from Allah alone, from His infinite wisdom and sovereign will. It is not a matter of chance or human invention; rather, it is a divine ordinance issued from the very presence of the Lord of all worlds.

The phrase "إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ" (Indeed, We have ever been sending messengers) reveals a profound truth: sending messengers is not an isolated event in history but an ongoing, established practice of Allah's mercy toward His creation. From Adam to Noah, from Ibrahim to Musa, from 'Isa to the final Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him), Allah has never left humanity without guidance. This verse reassures us that the revelation of the Qur'an to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is part of this unbroken chain of divine mercy — a continuation of the same message of monotheism, righteousness, and accountability that was revealed to every prophet before him.

This carries a beautiful and comforting message for every believer: Allah's care for His creation is not sporadic or temporary. He has always been, and will always be, the One who reaches out to His servants through revelation and guidance. The sending of messengers is an expression of His love and mercy — He does not leave us in darkness but illuminates our path with His light.

Moreover, the verse emphasizes that everything that happens — every decree, every provision, every event in the universe — is from Allah's command. Nothing occurs outside His knowledge and will. This instills in the believer's heart a profound sense of peace and trust: we are never outside the care and supervision of our Lord.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, ponder this magnificent reality: the same Allah who sent messengers throughout history has sent you this very Qur'an as a living, preserved guidance. He has not left you without a map in this journey of life. The command to worship Him alone, to do good, and to prepare for the Hereafter comes directly from His presence — it is not the invention of any human being.

When you open the Qur'an, you are opening a letter from your Lord. When you read its verses, you are hearing a message from the One who created you, knows what is in your heart, and wants nothing but good for you. This is the ultimate expression of love: that your Creator has not abandoned you to guess your purpose, but has clearly shown you the way to success in this life and the next.

So let this verse strengthen your connection to your Lord. Know that He has always been sending guidance to humanity, and He has sent this final, complete, and protected message — the Qur'an — for you. Embrace it, live by it, and let it transform your life. For the One who sent it is the Most Merciful, the All-Knowing, and He has promised to protect this Book until the end of time. This is your invitation to eternal success — will you accept it?
