Key Words and Their Meanings:

(Hushira): Gathered, assembled, or herded together—specifically referring to the resurrection when all of humanity is brought forth for judgment.
(A‘dā’): Enemies—those who oppose and harbor hostility.
(Kāfirīn): Deniers, rejecters—here meaning they will disown and repudiate the worship directed toward them.

Explanation of the Verse:

On the Day of Resurrection, when all of mankind is gathered before their Lord for reckoning and recompense, the false deities that people used to worship in this worldly life—be they idols, statues, or any being invoked besides Allah—will become outright enemies to their worshippers. These so-called gods will curse them, disown them, and declare their total innocence of any relationship with them. Moreover, they will explicitly deny any knowledge of the worship that was offered to them, saying: "We knew nothing of your devotion to us."

This is a profound reversal: those whom people called upon in times of hardship, hoping for help and intercession, will turn against them at the very moment they need assistance most. The idols will not only fail to intercede for their devotees—they will actively testify against them and reject their acts of worship as null and void. This is the ultimate disillusionment, exposing the utter futility of directing one's devotion to anything other than Allah, the Creator and Sustainer of all worlds.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, pause and ponder this scene with a heart that seeks truth. Imagine standing on that immense plain of resurrection, surrounded by the countless souls of humanity, and watching the very things you once revered turn their backs on you—denying you, disowning you, and declaring themselves your enemies. What a devastating awakening that would be!

Yet Allah, in His infinite mercy, has revealed this reality to us *now*, before that Day arrives, so that we may correct our course while there is still time. He does not wish to see any of His servants suffer such humiliation. He invites you, right now, to turn your heart exclusively toward Him—the One who hears every prayer, answers every call, and never abandons those who sincerely seek Him.

The idols of this world are not merely stones and statues. They can also be wealth, status, desires, or any person or thing we elevate above Allah in our hearts. Ask yourself: what do I truly worship? What occupies my deepest devotion? Let this verse be a wake-up call—a loving reminder that only Allah deserves your complete trust and submission. He is the One who will be with you in the grave, on the Day of Judgment, and throughout eternity. Turn to Him now, and you will find a Lord who never disappoints, never denies, and never abandons His sincere servants.

📜 Verse 4-8 — Al-Ahqaf

Say, [O Muhammad], "Have you considered that which you invoke besides Allah? Show me what they have created of the earth; or did they have partnership in [creation of] the heavens? Bring me a scripture [revealed] before this or a [remaining] trace of knowledge, if you should be truthful."
And who is more astray than he who invokes besides Allah those who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection, and they, of their invocation, are unaware.
And when the people are gathered [that Day], they [who were invoked] will be enemies to them, and they will be deniers of their worship.
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is obvious magic."
Or do they say, "He has invented it?" Say, "If I have invented it, you will not possess for me [the power of protection] from Allah at all. He is most knowing of that in which you are involved. Sufficient is He as Witness between me and you, and He is the Forgiving the Merciful."
