Tafsir (Explanation):
O noble Messenger, and O believer who follows his path — be patient with what the deniers and mockers say about you and about this religion. They utter words of disbelief, they ridicule the truth, and they try to weaken your resolve. But do not let their words grieve you or shake your determination, for Allah is fully aware of their schemes, and He is their ultimate reckoner. Your duty is not to fight their tongues with anger, but to remain steadfast and to turn to your Lord in worship.
And in this verse, Allah teaches you the most beautiful remedy for the heart when faced with hostility: glorify your Lord with His praise. This means to perform the prayers at their appointed times, filled with gratitude and remembrance of Allah. Pray the Fajr prayer before the sun rises, and pray the Ẓuhr and ʿAṣr prayers before the sun sets. These prayers are not merely rituals — they are a fortress for your soul, a source of peace, and a means of drawing closer to Allah, Who is sufficient for you against all who oppose you.
Indeed, the prayer is a light in the darkness of trials, a comfort in times of distress, and a reminder that no matter how loud the voices of falsehood may be, the remembrance of Allah is greater and more enduring. When you stand before your Lord in prayer, you rise above the petty words of the world and connect with the One Who controls all affairs.
So let this be your way, O believer: patience in the face of harm, and prayer as your constant companion. For through patience and prayer, you will find strength, and through glorifying your Lord, you will find peace that no enemy can take away. And know that every prayer you offer is a testimony of your faith, a shield against despair, and a means of earning the love and reward of your Creator.
