Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Yatūfu — to go around, to circulate, to serve.
- Ghil'mān — young servant boys, youths dedicated to service.
- Lu'lu' — pearls.
- Maknūn — well-preserved, hidden, protected (i.e., kept safe from any blemish or damage).
Tafsir (Explanation):
In this verse, Allah describes another delight of Paradise for His righteous servants: "And there will circulate among them young servant boys, as if they were preserved pearls." These are not ordinary servants, but specially created youths who are eternally young, pure, and beautiful, dedicated solely to serving the people of Paradise. Their appearance is so flawless, so radiant, and so perfectly formed that they resemble pearls kept safely within their shells — untouched by any impurity, unblemished by any flaw, and shining with a luminous beauty that delights the eyes.
This imagery is not merely about physical beauty; it reflects the perfection of Paradise itself. Just as a pearl hidden in its shell is protected from the dust and grime of the world, these servants are free from any imperfection, any weariness, any disobedience, or any ill-feeling. They serve with joy and grace, and their presence adds to the serenity and happiness of the believers. There is no fatigue in their service, no resentment, no arrogance — only pure, untainted devotion.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, pause for a moment and imagine this scene: you are in a garden of eternal bliss, surrounded by rivers of pure water, fruits of every kind, and companions of unmatched beauty — and now, even the servants who attend to you are more beautiful than anything this world has ever seen. This is not a fantasy; this is the promise of the Most Merciful, the One who never breaks His word. Every detail of Paradise is designed to bring you joy, peace, and satisfaction beyond your wildest dreams.
So ask yourself: is this fleeting world, with its worries, its pains, and its temporary pleasures, worth losing such an eternal reward? The path to this Paradise is not difficult — it begins with faith in Allah, love for His Messenger ﷺ, and striving to do good deeds with sincerity. Every prayer you pray, every charity you give, every kind word you speak, every sin you avoid for the sake of Allah — all of it is an investment in this everlasting life. Let this beautiful image of Paradise motivate you to draw closer to your Lord today. For indeed, Allah has prepared for His believing servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever conceived.
