Surah At-Tur — Verse 23

In this blessed verse, Allah describes another exquisite delight reserved for the dwellers of Paradise — a scene of pure joy and perfect companionship. The righteous believers will pass around cups of wine to one another in a spirit of mutual love and generosity, each one offering the cup to his brother, creating an atmosphere of warmth and heartfelt connection. This is not the wine of this world, with its harmful consequences and fleeting pleasures. Rather, it is a celestial drink, utterly pure and sublime.

The verse emphasizes two key distinctions from worldly wine: no laghw — meaning no vain, foolish, or nonsensical chatter will result from drinking it — and no ta’thīm — meaning no sinful speech, no lies, no slander, and no actions that incur blame.
