Explanation of the Verse:

On the Day of Judgment, when the light of the believers shines brightly, guiding them across the bridge (As-Sirāt), the hypocrites will find themselves plunged into darkness. In their desperation, they will call out to the believers, saying: "Were we not with you in the world? Did we not pray, fast, and perform the rituals of religion just as you did? Did we not share the same streets, the same mosques, and the same gatherings?"

The believers will answer them with a firm and truthful reply: "Yes, you were with us in appearance, but your hearts were far from us. You destroyed yourselves by choosing hypocrisy over sincerity. You waited eagerly for misfortune to strike the believers, hoping that their cause would fail. You doubted the truth of the resurrection and the promise of Allah’s victory. Your false hopes and long desires deceived you, and you kept delaying repentance, saying 'tomorrow, tomorrow,' until death came upon you suddenly. And the great deceiver — Satan — tricked you into thinking that Allah is forgiving and merciful without any need for sincere repentance, so you persisted in your hypocrisy until the very end."

This verse is a profound warning to every soul that hides disbelief behind a mask of faith. It reminds us that Allah sees what is in the hearts, and that no outward display of religion will benefit a person whose inner reality contradicts it. The hypocrites will be left in darkness on that Day, while the believers will be saved by the light of their sincere faith.

A Call to Sincerity:

Dear reader, let this verse be a mirror for your heart. Ask yourself: Is my faith merely a show for people, or is it a living reality that transforms my actions and intentions? Do I truly believe in the Hereafter, or do I let vain hopes and worldly distractions lull me into negligence? Do I trust in Allah’s promise of victory for the believers, or do I waver in doubt?

The door of repentance is open until the moment of death. Do not let Satan deceive you as he deceived those before you. Do not let false hopes delay your return to Allah. Purify your heart, renew your intention, and hold firmly to the rope of Allah — for the light of faith is the only light that will guide you through the darkness of the grave and the terrors of the Day of Judgment. May Allah make us among the sincere believers and save us from the fate of the hypocrites.

📜 Verse 12-16 — Al-Hadid

On the Day you see the believing men and believing women, their light proceeding before them and on their right, [it will be said], "Your good tidings today are [of] gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein you will abide eternally." That is what is the great attainment.
On the [same] Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, "Wait for us that we may acquire some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you and seek light." And a wall will be placed between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment.
The hypocrites will call to the believers, "Were we not with you?" They will say, "Yes, but you afflicted yourselves and awaited [misfortune for us] and doubted, and wishful thinking deluded you until there came the command of Allah. And the Deceiver deceived you concerning Allah.
So today no ransom will be taken from you or from those who disbelieved. Your refuge is the Fire. It is most worthy of you, and wretched is the destination.
Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth? And let them not be like those who were given the Scripture before, and a long period passed over them, so their hearts hardened; and many of them are defiantly disobedient.
