Translation — Tafsir

- Baʿda mawtihā (بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا): After its death, i.e., after it has become dry, withered, and devoid of vegetation.
- Āyāt (الْآيَاتِ): Signs, proofs, evidences, and clear demonstrations of Allah’s power and oneness.
- Taʿqilūn (تَعْقِلُونَ): You may comprehend, understand, and reflect with sound intellect, leading to action.
The Interpretation:
Know with certainty, O believers, that Allah—the Most Powerful, the All-Wise—is the One who revives the earth after its death. He sends down rain upon dry, barren land, and suddenly it stirs with life: seeds sprout, plants break through the soil, and the earth blossoms with greenery and fruit. This is not a distant or impossible matter; it happens before your eyes every season. And the One who can bring a lifeless land back to vibrant life is certainly able to do far greater things—He is able to raise the dead from their graves on the Day of Resurrection, and He is able to soften hardened hearts that have become distant from Him.
Indeed, this imagery is not merely about soil and rain; it is a profound lesson for your own souls. Just as Allah revives the earth, He can revive your hearts. A heart that has grown hard, heedless, and far from its Lord can be brought back to softness, humility, and devotion. A soul that has wandered in the wilderness of sin can be guided back to the path of righteousness. So never despair of Allah’s mercy, and never think that your return to Him is too difficult—for He who gives life to dead earth is fully capable of giving life to dead hearts.
Allah has made this clear and has presented to you signs upon signs—in the heavens, in the earth, in yourselves, and in His revealed Book—so that you may use your intellect. He does not want you to be careless or heedless; rather, He wants you to reflect, to understand, and to act upon what you have learned. When you truly comprehend these signs, your faith deepens, your hearts soften, and you draw nearer to your Creator with love, hope, and awe.
So, dear reader, let this verse awaken you. Look at the earth around you: it dies and then lives again by Allah’s command. Your heart is no different. No matter how hard it has become, no matter how far you have strayed, the door of return is open. Call upon your Lord, turn to Him sincerely, and witness how He revives your soul with light, peace, and certainty—just as He revives the earth with rain and greenery. This is the beauty of Islam: it never leaves you without hope, and it always invites you back to the embrace of your Merciful Creator.
