Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Dār al-Salām (دار السلام): The abode of peace and safety, which is Paradise (Jannah). It is called this because its inhabitants are safe from all harm, distress, and every undesirable thing.
- Walīyuhum (وليّهم): Their Protector, Supporter, and Ally who takes care of their affairs.
- Bimā kānū yaʿmalūn (بما كانوا يعملون): Because of what they used to do — i.e., their righteous deeds and sincere obedience.
Explanation of the Verse:
For those who remember Allah and take heed of His signs and guidance, there is, with their Lord on the Day of Resurrection, the Abode of Peace — Paradise. It is called the "Abode of Peace" because everyone who enters it is granted complete safety and security: safe from death, safe from sickness, safe from fear, safe from all forms of punishment, and safe from every kind of harm or sorrow. This is a promise guaranteed by Allah Himself, and He will certainly deliver them to it by His grace and bounty.
Moreover, Allah is their Protector and Supporter. He takes care of them in this world by granting them success and guidance to do good, and He takes care of them in the Hereafter by rewarding them with the ultimate bliss of Paradise. This divine protection and support is the direct result of their own deeds — the righteous actions they performed with sincerity and devotion while they lived in this world. Their good deeds became the means by which Allah drew them closer to Him and granted them this magnificent reward.
A Daʿwah Reflection:
This verse is a beautiful and heartwarming promise from Allah to those who reflect and remember Him. It teaches us that our relationship with Allah is not one of mere fear, but of love, protection, and mutual care — we strive to please Him, and He, in turn, becomes our Guardian and Supporter. The "Abode of Peace" is not just a distant dream; it is a real destination that awaits those who choose the path of righteousness. Every good deed we do today is an investment in our eternal peace tomorrow. So let us strive to be among those who remember Allah constantly, who take heed of His signs, and who work righteous deeds — for then, we too shall be under His divine protection, both in this world and in the Hereafter. What greater honor can there be than to have Allah Himself as our Protector and to be granted a home of eternal peace and safety in His presence?
