Explanation of the Verse:

This noble verse addresses two of the pure wives of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) — Hafsah and Aishah (may Allah be pleased with them both). It begins by opening the door of repentance for them, saying: "If you both turn to Allah in sincere repentance, then indeed your hearts have already inclined away from what is right." This means that the two wives had allowed their hearts to lean toward something the Prophet (peace be upon him) disliked — specifically, the matter of disclosing his secret regarding his maidservant Mariyah, and their mutual support in that matter. Their inclination was not an act of rebellion or malice, but a human error that required correction and a return to Allah’s obedience and the Prophet’s pleasure.

The verse then continues with a powerful reassurance for the Prophet (peace be upon him) and a stern warning for anyone who seeks to harm him: "But if you support one another against him, then indeed Allah is his Protector, and Gabriel, and the righteous among the believers — and the angels after that are his supporters." This is a magnificent declaration of divine protection. It tells us that the Prophet (peace be upon him) is never alone. Allah Himself is his guardian, and if that were not enough, He has placed the mighty angel Gabriel, the best of the believers, and all the angels of heaven as his helpers and defenders. No matter how many people conspire against him, the forces of Allah’s support are overwhelming and unstoppable.

This verse carries a profound lesson for every Muslim: the honor and protection of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is a matter of divine decree. Anyone who loves him must align their heart with what pleases him, and anyone who seeks to harm him will face the combined might of Allah, His angels, and the righteous believers. It also teaches us the beauty of repentance — that even the most beloved people to Allah can make mistakes, but the door of forgiveness is always open, and Allah loves those who turn back to Him.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear Muslim, look at how Allah, in His infinite mercy, addressed the mothers of the believers with gentleness and love. He did not humiliate them or cast them out; rather, He called them to repentance and reminded them of His boundless grace. This is the essence of Islam — a religion that never abandons its followers, no matter how far they stray, as long as they return with sincere hearts.

And see how Allah defended His Prophet (peace be upon him) with such majesty. This should fill your heart with love and reverence for the Messenger of Allah, and with the certainty that his cause is victorious, his message is protected, and his followers are never alone. Let this verse inspire you to be among the righteous believers who stand by the truth, who support the Prophet’s Sunnah, and who trust in Allah’s promise of help. For whoever takes Allah as their protector, no force on earth or in heaven can ever overcome them.

📜 Verse 2-6 — At-Tahrim

Allah has already ordained for you [Muslims] the dissolution of your oaths. And Allah is your protector, and He is the Knowing, the Wise.
And [remember] when the Prophet confided to one of his wives a statement; and when she informed [another] of it and Allah showed it to him, he made known part of it and ignored a part. And when he informed her about it, she said, "Who told you this?" He said, "I was informed by the Knowing, the Acquainted."
If you two [wives] repent to Allah, [it is best], for your hearts have deviated. But if you cooperate against him - then indeed Allah is his protector, and Gabriel and the righteous of the believers and the angels, moreover, are [his] assistants.
Perhaps his Lord, if he divorced you [all], would substitute for him wives better than you - submitting [to Allah], believing, devoutly obedient, repentant, worshipping, and traveling - [ones] previously married and virgins.
O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.
