📖 English Meaning
Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals?

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Al-Muslimeen (المسلمين): Those who submit to Allah in obedience and faith.
  • Al-Mujrimeen (المجرمين): The criminals, i.e., the disbelievers and polytheists who commit sins and associate partners with Allah.

Tafsir (Explanation):

The verse poses a rhetorical question that strikes at the very core of justice and logic: "Shall We make the Muslims like the criminals?" This is a question that carries its own answer — an emphatic "No!" It is an impossibility, for Allah’s justice is perfect and His wisdom is absolute.

The context of this verse is significant. The polytheists of Makkah used to say to the believers: "If we are resurrected as you claim, we will surely be given better rewards than you in the Hereafter." They assumed that their worldly status, wealth, and power would carry over into the afterlife, and that they would be favored over the poor and weak Muslims. Allah responded by exposing the absurdity of this claim. How could those who submitted to their Creator, who bore patience in faith and obedience, be treated the same as those who rebelled, disbelieved, and spread corruption on earth?

This verse is a profound declaration of divine justice. It reassures the believer that no act of goodness will be lost, and no act of evil will be overlooked. The scales of Allah are not like the scales of this world — they are precise, fair, and based on truth. The Muslim who strives in submission to Allah, even if they are poor, oppressed, or overlooked by society, holds a rank before Allah that the mightiest criminal can never reach.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse is a source of immense hope and comfort for every believer. It tells you that your faith, your prayers, your patience, and your struggle for righteousness are not in vain. Allah sees it all, and He will never equate you with those who live in disobedience and arrogance. So hold your head high as a Muslim — not out of pride, but out of gratitude to a Lord who honors His obedient servants. And let this verse also be a warning: do not be deceived by the temporary success of wrongdoers in this world, for the final judgment belongs to Allah alone, and His justice is beyond compare.
