Surah Al-Haqqah — Verse 7

The Interpretation:

In this verse, Allah describes the fate of the people of 'Ad, who were destroyed by a furious, freezing wind. He says that He subjected this wind to them for seven nights and eight consecutive days — a period of relentless punishment that did not let up for a moment. The word "husuman" emphasizes that these days and nights were continuous and unbroken, with no respite or mercy in between.

As a result, you would have seen those people lying dead on the ground, struck down in their very homes, scattered like fallen palm trees whose trunks have become hollow, rotten, and collapsed from within. Their bodies were emptied of life, just as those palm trunks were emptied of their core. It was a complete and utter annihilation — no one was left standing, and no trace of their former strength remained.

This scene is a powerful reminder of the consequences of arrogance and denial of the truth. The people of 'Ad were known for their immense physical strength and towering buildings, yet none of that could protect them from the decree of Allah. Their power became their weakness, and their pride led to their downfall.

Dear reader, ponder this scene with your heart. A people who were once mighty and prosperous were reduced to lifeless forms scattered across the earth — their bodies like hollow, fallen trunks, empty and forgotten. This is not merely a story of the past; it is a timeless lesson for every soul that walks this earth. Allah's power is absolute, and His justice is certain. No matter how strong, wealthy, or influential a person may become, they are never beyond the reach of their Creator.

Let this verse awaken in you a sense of humility and a desire to turn back to Allah. Do not let the temporary pleasures of this world deceive you into forgetting the Hereafter. The same Allah who destroyed the mighty 'Ad with a single wind is the One who extends His mercy to you every single day. He has given you the gift of life, the gift of faith, and the opportunity to seek His forgiveness. Seize this opportunity before it slips away. Repent sincerely, hold fast to His guidance, and be among those who are saved by His grace — not among those who are left as hollow trunks, forgotten by time.
