Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Al-Ghayb (الْغَيْبِ): The unseen, that which is hidden from human perception and knowledge — including matters of the future, the unseen realms, and the divine decrees.
- Yuzhir (يُظْهِرُ): To expose, reveal, or make something apparent to another.
- Ahadan (أَحَدًا): Anyone, any single person from among creation.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Allah, the Exalted, declares that He alone is the All-Knower of the unseen — everything that lies beyond the reach of human senses and intellect. No corner of existence, whether in the heavens or the earth, whether past, present, or future, is hidden from His infinite knowledge. He is the sole possessor of this perfect and absolute awareness.
And with this majestic declaration comes a profound truth: Allah does not reveal His unseen knowledge to anyone from among His creation. He keeps the knowledge of the unseen exclusively to Himself, for He alone is worthy of it. No angel brought near, no prophet sent, no human being — however noble or learned — can penetrate that sacred domain unless Allah Himself chooses to disclose a portion of it.
Yet, there is a beautiful exception that follows: Allah, in His wisdom and mercy, selects from His creation those whom He pleases — His messengers and prophets — and grants them knowledge of certain unseen matters as a sign of His truth and a proof of their prophethood. This is not a violation of His exclusive knowledge, but rather a deliberate act of divine choice, revealing only what He wills and what serves His purpose. He also sends guardian angels before and behind His messengers to protect the revelation from being intercepted by devils, ensuring that the divine message reaches humanity pure and untainted.
This verse carries a powerful lesson for every believer: the knowledge of the unseen — such as the exact timing of the Hour, the details of the afterlife, or the hidden realities of destiny — belongs solely to Allah. No one, regardless of their status or claims, can access it except through what Allah Himself has revealed. Therefore, we should turn our hearts away from fortune-tellers, soothsayers, and those who claim knowledge of the unseen, and instead place our complete trust in Allah, who knows all and reveals what He wills in His perfect wisdom.
Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, ponder this magnificent truth: the Lord who knows every hidden secret, every whispered thought, and every unseen realm is the One who has revealed Himself to you through His Book and His Messenger. He has not left you in darkness, but has illuminated your path with guidance. When you realize that Allah alone holds the keys of the unseen, your heart finds rest — for you know that your future, your provision, and your destiny are in the hands of the Most Merciful, the All-Wise. So draw closer to Him, submit to His will, and find peace in knowing that the One who knows all that is hidden is also the One who loves you and guides you to the straight path. Islam is not a religion of blind uncertainty, but a faith built on divine revelation — a light that dispels the darkness of ignorance and leads you to eternal success. Embrace it with a sincere heart, and you will taste the sweetness of certainty in a world full of doubt.
